STOURBRIDGE BRANCH - SEPTEMBER 2016
Malcolm's Report:
The weekend prior to the September meeting was the main GFS meeting in Blackpool and the AGM which I was able to attend this year for the first time for ages (it has always clashed with my other interests) I am delighted all went well.
Now for our own meeting which was well attended and every artiste giving a super performance including for the first time Lynn and Leigh Raybould playing a umber I am familiar "Five Foot Two". It was nice to see Steve Langford from Daventry, Steve Evans from Stratford and Tony Dean from Little Bloxwich. At this point I must thank everyone for my birthday cards which on Wednesday 21 September. Almost forgot Rod Philips and his wife were at the meeting who does not attend all that often. At the time of drafting out this report I have just had my varicose vein operation done on 22 September. Another highlight of Tuesday night was Ryan Willetts and Joe Thomas ending the evening with a double act that they had only rehearsed that same evening. It was the first time they had performed together. Ken who owns the Blackcountry Narrow Boat at the Bonded Warehouse, Stourbridge, was also at the meeting. He was very impressed and next year will be having a cruise on the canal as part of the 25th Anniversary. Members who could not attend the meeting due to illness like Bernard Francis and Bob Elwell we hope they will be better soon. Our thoughts are with them. I was hoping to feature in this report details about Rosamund Gray who used to attend our meetings. I knew she was in a care home in Alcester. I decided to contact her son Lawrence on Thursday, he contacted me on Friday with the sad news she passed away on Tuesday 20 September. The funeral will take place at Worcester Crematorium on Monday 24 October at 11.45am. Rosamund husband, Geoff, were regular visitors to the Stourbridge Branch and always ready to help where possible. She assisted me on one or two gigs over the years. Both Geoff and Rosamund were equity and appeared in several TV soaps over the years. RIP Rosamund you will never be forgotten.
Your Roving Report Malcolm.
