STOURBRIDGE BRANCH - MAY 2017

Malcolm's Report

March/April/Canal Cruise 2017

As mentioned above this report covers two months March, April and two canal cruises on 21st and 28th April 2017.  The two Branch meetings were very well attended and there is always pause for thought for those who have been unable to attend due to illness like Bob Elwell and Bernard Francis.  I have faith that one day they will return.  In the meantime some from the Stourbridge Branch have been on two successful canal cruises from the Bonded Warehouse, Stourbridge, and the entertainment was provided by our very own Matthew Richards who worked none stop both leaving and returning from the cruises.  There are plans to have another cruise with Matthew later during the year (Friday 28th July 2017).

During April Andy Eastwood, Maggie O'Hara and Dave Bartley were at Brierley Hill, Civic Hall. On a free show 11 April at the Bonded Warehouse, Stourbridge, playing with her Jazz Quintet was former GFS member Linda Angelis (known as Linda Myers) the older GFS members would remember her. She is a versatile instrumentalist, now living in Telford where she also teaches the ukulele.

Finally many thanks to Chris at the Ashwood and the Staff for their hospitality and also to David and Christine for the PA equipment and Matthew Richards and Geoff Salminen for the backing band, also Jonathan and Christine for adjusting the microphones, and also to everyone who attended.
