STOURBRIDGE BRANCH - MAY 2016

Malcolm's April Report

Yet another good attendance at the April Meeting with two who were there for the first time.  It was great to see Gabriela attend once again. She is extremely busy and may not be able to come along every month, but there are two other talented female artists (Angie Parker and Christine Richards). Blake May most certainly had us entertained in both halves with his poetry set to George's music.  Alan and Eunice Evans were there from Astwood Bank (the home of fishing tackle near Redditch), so was Graham Priest from Bridgnorth, Kevin Bridgwater from Stourbridge, Roy Holloway and Joe Thomas from Hurst Hill. It all made a very good night of entertainment, with many thanks to Chris and his Staff at the Ashwood for their hospitality. Not forgetting our accompaniment Matthew Richards on the Keyboard and uke and Geoff Salminen on the Washboard, also many thanks to David and Christine for the use of the PA equipment. By the time you read this report the tickets and passes for the 1940's two weekends on SVR will have been applied for. To end on a sad note Ray Bernard, one of the founder members of the GFS passed away Wednesday 11th May - details on the GFS website.

Malcolm's May Report

I apologies for not being able to send the April Report in time, so I have included the report with this one, once again it was a very good night with two of the gentle line dancing sessions that Roy and myself attend and they thoroughly enjoyed the evenings entertainment. It was nice to see Tony Dean attending and there were excellent performances from everyone in attendance who could play the ukulele.  I noticed in the latest vellum that he Devon GFS Branch has finished after 13 years - it is our 25th year in December 2016. More to report on that as the time gets nearer. Well that's all for now.
