STOURBRIDGE BRANCH - MARCH 2015
Malcolm's Report
Our second meeting at the new venue was also a success, there were more than there was at the last meeting. Chris the owner had chips and sandwiches laid on which all helped to have a successful night, together with great entertainment. It was nice to see Gabriela back again and also Roy Westwood from Worcester. He was also at the weekend meeting at Blackpool. he following weekend Andrew and myself and Martin, from Wem, were there for the day and using network rail to get to and from Blackpool. This was the second time I have used the network rail which was in November 2014. It was a good day including having a meal in the Imperil to save walking out in the cold to a restaurant for a meal. I noticed that some of the performers were not singing George Formby numbers. There will be a mention of this in the Vellum or website. The rules are as with The Stourbridge Branch, each artist must do at least one George Formby number IT IS NOT AN OPEN MIC meeting, it is to honour the man George Formby and no one else, so please remember one George Formby number. I mentioned Martin from Wem - well he was also at our branch meeting for the first time and enjoyed he evening. Hope to see you again Martin and hope there will not be no problems in getting hoe like you experienced. Well all that's left now is to thank all the uke players and the audience for attending and Chris for the use of the room. Also Dave, Christine for the PA equipment and Matthew and Geoff for the backing, also Gabriela for starting the first and second half and making the list of performers - good to have you back. Finally everyone sends best wishes to all who were unable to attend due to health problems, such as Bernard Francis (washboard player) and Bob Elwell. Get Well soon, we all miss you. Likewise anyone else who I don't know about like a former work colleague Frank who has attended our meetings.
Turned out nice again. Your Roving Reporter Malcolm Palmer
