STOURBRIDGE BRANCH - JUNE 2016

Malcolm's Report

Well the June Meeting certainly was a night to remember with two birthdays being celebrated, the Queens and

Leigh Raybould.  All the tables had Union Jack tablecloths and there were Union Jack buntings all round the room.

We had two new visitors from Daventry here for the first time (Tilly and Steve Langford - daughter and father). They

were also at Blackpool for the June weekend convention.  Back to the Branch Meeting to celebrate there was a lot of

food to be had, thanks to the ladies who attend the Branch.  It was nice to see Pauline and Cameron Aitken, We all

wish Ian, Cameron's father, a speedy recover.  Everybody was in good form, especially our very own poet laureate

Blake May who brings us up to date with all the latest news set to George Formby's popular tunes. I did see Blake on

the Severn Valley 1940s weekend as Andrew and myself were leaving the SVR car park at Kidderminster. I had two

good weekends at the 1940s entertaining where possible. The two weekends pass by so quickly. I thank everyone for

attending the event including my friends from the Gentle Line Dancing one of which, Jan, who is having uke lessons.

Many thanks for all who attended the June Meeting, Christine, Dave and Matthew for the PA equipment and

keyboard backing, Geoff on washboard, who was also at SVR 1940s with one of his vintage cars and also playing

the ukulele and piano in the 1940s living room.  Many thanks to Chris of the Ashwood for the use of the room.

Finally Bob Elwell and Bernard Francis, who have health problems, we send all our best wishes to them and

look forward to there return when they are feeling better.

Hoping it has Turned Out Nice Again - Your Roving Reporter - Malcolm Palmer

PS: I enjoyed the Music Hall Memories along with a friend at the Grand Theatre, Wolverhampton on June 8th.
