STOURBRIDGE BRANCH - JULY 2016
Malcolm's Report
Although it is the holiday season this month's meeting was very well attended. It was great to see Teresa and Michael Adcock at the meeting. Michael joined Geoff and Matthew playing his guitar, so there was a trio again as it before when Dave Partington and Jane were at the Stourbridge Branch. I have been trying to get in contact with them again since they moved to the Cheltenham area. I will keep trying. It was nice to see Steve Longford from Daventry again, which is also some distance away, likewise Alan and Eunice Evans, Teresa and Michael, because of the distance which they travel it's only fair for them to play an extra number, that includes Graham from Bridgnorth. I feel certain everyone will agree. It was great to see Joe Thomas in the paper playing at the special event in Tipton. The Stourbridge Branch have some great performers who not only play in this country but in other parts of the world, like Gabriela playing in Greece, Sweden and Czec Republic. She is an international entertainer. Tuesday 26th July Gabriela entertained everyone After Gentle Line Dancing session had had finished at Lanesfield Methodist Church Hall (Tuesday Mornings 11.00am-12.15pm). It's part of Jan's 70th Birthday celebration (Jan has been running GLD for some years). She also attends the Penn Ukulele Club sessions held the first Tuesday of each month at Penn Bowling Club, Manor Road, Wolverhampton, WV4 5PY. No more news about the Hippodrome, the Friends of the Venue are expected to hear soon from the Council. I feel certain it will be good. It's five years this September since I started collecting signatures and 25 years this December when I started the Stourbridge GFS Branch. Also in Brierley Hill 80 years ago, 21st December 1936, since the Danillo Cinema was opened in the presence of George Formby who appearing in Birmingham. Finally it is to thank everyone for attending the July meeting and especially our backing trio and Dave & Christine for the use of the PA equipment and for Chris for allowing us the use of the Ashwood Public House.
