STOURBRIDGE BRANCH - JULY 2015

Malcolm's Report:

Well I am delighted to say there is still a good attendance at the Branch meetings and there was a welcome return of Gabriela, although she is very busy now-a-days it was a delight to have her at the meeting even though she had to leave in the second half after the interval. It was also nice to see Don Brookes and his wife there for the first time. Don plays with the popular Pete Bodice Band who have been around in the Stourbridge and District for sometime, especially at the Stourbridge British Legion (one of the venues that was looked at when our Branch had to leave the Robin Woods Community Centre and the R.A.O.B. due to closure at both venues 2005). It's nice to go back down memory lane sometimes like on Saturday 18th July when I was the 1940's Black Country Museum, my first visit playing there. Cameron Aitken was playing there with the NC Big Band, who I played during the interval at one of the Dudley Town Hall Dance memorabilia evenings a few years ago. Cameron was a solo artist during the interval.  I was also at the Red House Cone for the 1940's on 25th and 26th July.

Very many thanks for all who attended and played at the July Meeting and look forward to seeing you there again and more at the August GFS meeting. My special thanks to Chris, at the Ashwood, for his hospitality at such a nice venue and to Dave and Christine Richards for the use of the PA equipment and Matthew on keyboard and Eunice Evans on washboard - and all who attended.
